*DAVAO*

At long last. I'm here in the land of promise, the home of the Philippine National bird and the most livable city in the Philippines, DAVAO CITY!!! (I give credit to Tita A. for the three Davao titles.)

I touched ground at around six in the morning of December 29, 2009. I wasn't able to sleep on the plane and was really excited the whole weekend for this trip. I am fifteen days behind schedule but thankful that it didn't take longer than that.

My first day in the city was fantastic! I am looking forward to the New year and the next few months with my Tita A., Kuya Kai, Gelo, Karl and Nanay. This would be fun! :)

Merry Christmas

Once again, we were bored and decided to make a Christmas video with us singing "Bro, Ikaw ang Star ng Pasko". It's abs-cbn's Christmas station ID theme song.

Of course, we weren't prepared for the first one and still weren't serious with our third try but, here it is. Hope you enjoy watching us have fun.

Merry Christmas!

CHOCOLATES DE CIELO

I'm so excited to write about this because i know my beloved Tita A. would get to read it.

I am currently enjoying my Tita A.'s "Chocolates de Cielo" and I love it! It's been a long time since i've tasted freshly brewed tsokolate. It reminds me of my gradeschool days when i would wake up to a mug of authentic tsokolate drink or champorado before going to school. I miss those carefree days when i don't have to worry about, for instance a JOB. hahaha :-) Any who, i just wanted to share my "chocolates de cielo" experience.

If you want to taste a heavenly healthy authentic tsokolate drink you can send my Tita A. a message at glazedbliss@gmail.com. She makes fresh home-made tsokolate bars in cute shapes ready for brewing.

Hope you're all having a wonderful evening! By the way, i'm not yet in Davao! ;)

Happy Holidays

Hello! Thank God for my fast recovery. I was sick for the past two weeks but thanks to the prayers of my family and friends plus the bitter tasting Chinese medicine of my doting grandmother, a few raw egg whites, fresh Buko juice and Muscovado sugar + water drink, i'm better and on the fast track to being my old self. I also found out that i have gastritis so, i'm laying low on my coffee drinks. My health condition was the culprit in postponing my long awaited trip to Davao, but no worries, i'm flying in on the 29th to celebrate the new years there. It would be really interesting to celebrate Christmas here in our Q.C. house, it has been years since i've been home for the holidays.

I wish you all good health and happiness this Christmas season! I hope to write my next blog entry in Davao.

GLEEK

I'm officially a GLEEK.

I tried to make a video of "Don't Stop Believin" just for fun. Ate, whom i should just call by her first name because she's younger than i am, were in the living room last night and had nothing better to do but to make a home video.

First attempt: FLOP!

Second attempt: FLOP

We had FUN! Have a Glee-ful day!

GLEE

I've been hearing about this show for quite a while now, but it hasn't really caught my attention until yesterday. I only saw one teaser of Glee on TV, liked their performance but didn't really stir up a lot of curiosity in me to watch a whole episode. But as i have mentioned in a few previous blogs that i'm really not that busy nowadays, so i have decided to check it out. Little did i know that i would love it and can't wait to see more of it's episodes.

I like music. Although, I'm not like my family who knows the technically of it, but i do appreciate melody and lyrics. I like to sing, scratch that, i love to sing but i tend to be shy when asked to sometimes(my mom and Tita A. are probably nodding their heads right now). I have taken a few workshops in musical theater and jazz a few summers back and joined the musical theater organization in the university( i only did one production with them because of schedule conflicts). I have tons of fun in rehearsals while learning new dance steps and songs but i have the most fun when i get on stage and perform what i've worked hard for with all my friends and co-performers. Maybe someday i'll strike up the nerve to go to an audition for a musical theater production. hahaha :-)

Back to Glee now, I've only seen the first two episodes and loved what i've seen so far.( I sound like a professional critique in that line). I'll be watching episode three right after i post this so i better cut this short and get back to being a GLEEK..Is that what they call it? Bye for now!

Skype-mate

Cheers! Here's to my beautiful and sexy Tita A. for pushing me to write more in this blog!

Since she's in Davao and i'm in Manila(but not for long), we spend most of our Saturday evenings laughing and telling never-ending stories in Skype with mom and Uncle Omar. She always has some interesting insights about anything and everything there is in this world. hahaha..:-) I love you Tita A.

I can't wait to see you and my cousins on the fifteenth! Happy Holidays!

You can visit her blog at www.glazedbliss.blogspot.com. She also makes delicious and fresh cacao in beautiful packaging, called Chocolates de cielo. She makes the cacao herself, homemade and healthy.

Just in case some of you were wondering, her real name is Maria Angelina E. Sondon, Tita Angie to my other cousins but i love calling her Tita A.!

"DARLS", short for DARLING

Here's a picture of one of my best-est friend, Mia! I love love love her.. It's always a blast having her around.

This was taken last November 21, 2009, Saturday while goofing around at the doctor's office waiting for her turn. She was complaining about a ringing in her ears, turned out there was a foreign object in her left ear. hahaha :-) No worries, it was just sand from her recent beach trip. I was about to suggest a psychiatrist if the ear doctor had no concrete findings.

Good times!

Loving Vampires

I'm a FAN! It all started when i was just looking for a book to buy in a bookstore (duh?, where else?!) There were this thick black and red books piled meticulously on a table in the middle of the store with no summary or description of what's it all about. It got me curious because of the reviews and bought it. I read it for a few days, loved the story and then saw the trailer of the movie TWILIGHT, heard the characters' names, vampires, Forks and then, i saw the light..I was reading the third book of the series. I didn't immediately read the first two books after seeing TWILIGHT. I had to get the last one and just recently before the movie, NEW MOON came out, i was eager enough to read the first two books of the series. So basically, i started the story with ECLIPSE, BREAKING DAWN, TWILIGHT & finally NEW MOON, i eventually read ECLIPSE & BREAKING DAWN again to make the process right.

I just explained my journey of getting familiar with the story. Sorry for the confusion! :-)

I guess one of the things that got me hooked was the love of Edward and Bella for each other. It gets annoyingly cheezy and stupid at times but it's just amazing to read the intensity of their love. I'm such a hopeless romantic and it's fun to dream of finding my Edward someday. hahaha :D That statement just made me cringe..CORNY! I'm just thinking out loud. I know you're all thinking the same thing!

There's so much more to say about the movie and the book but i have to get going. I'll try to continue this post another time. Tah-tah!

WARNING: Violent reactions are not welcome in this post! ;)

i <3 APPLE

I've been bugging my mom with my graduation gift for the past how many months now and i was extra excited last week because it was thanksgiving and thought that she might actually buy it already because of the discounts. Turned out, she didn't! ;-/

I want a MACBOOK PRO 13", it all started when our laptop (i share it with my brother) started having some problems and late last month it finally crashed :( Sad, i know! I practically was on it every single day, the whole day whenever i'm home. I know it's bad, but i've gotten addicted to the net ever since i went to the states and took the addiction with me to the Philippines. The net helped me stay in touch with my hometown friends and family since i only had one that i could call a friend when i was there. :) Anyway, back to the topic! I want a MACBOOK PRO 13"! I know i'll get it, probably next year when i make the BIG MOVE to the US of A, Right mom? but i just can't wait. I'm giddy just thinking about it. Alright! I'm day dreaming again! Gotta snap out of it! :D I'm sounding like a spoiled brat now, but i'm really not! hahaha :D No justifications there!

Ok that's it! I said my piece. My Tita A. would be smiling right now seeing that i have made yet another boring entry in this blog. :-D Hopefully, in the next month or so i get to proudly introduce my new MACBOOK PRO 13". I'm crossing my fingers and looking forward to it. hahaha :-) I can't wait to play the SIMS 3 on it also. 'Til my next entry..

By the way, if you want to sponsor my mac please feel free to send me a message or write a comment and i'll be in touch! ;) Thanks in advance!

Hunting in the dessert

Hi there! I always find my self inspired to write at the wee hours of the night. I guess it's quiet with less distractions which makes it easier to think and pour your mind out.I went to my first real serious local "job" associated activity this morning. It wasn't really a real job, it was just for my practicum but still, it marks the start of my budding career in the very "beautiful" airline and hospitality industry. ok.ok..i'm over acting again. I guess i got it from my mom! ;-)It wasn't quite the experience i imagined. It was freaking hot and my friend Sheila and i are not really familiar with the area. We took an FX to Buendia then waited for a taxi which took forever to find. We felt like we were in a dessert! We were in full corporate attire with heels and the whole she bang! It was horrible..we were sweaty and sticky and still have to go through the encounter with our possible employer! Anyway, enough of my rambling. We got to the place, asked the guard how to get to the office, got lost, found out that the person we're looking for is already not associated with the company and finally submitted our papers. It just took us a few minutes in the office and then we left. Whew,,the "getting there" and "going home" part took most of the time. My feet were killing by the time we found a ride home. I guess, every applicant has to go through this excrutiating experience in looking for a job!hahaha...The company the school recommended was not my first choice, it wasn't even in my choice of companies, but well, i guess everything happens for a reason!I have to wait for a text message in May for our interview..I hate waiting for something that doesn't even guarantee that you get the job!Hopefully everything turn out great!

Catching up

This is going to be interesting! It's been a year and a few months since i last visited this blog. I was in a different country and now i'm back home. Boy, time really flies! I'm not really used to venting out my feelings and emotions, well i thought i was really going to change and be open when i got to the states, although i must say, i learned a lot and had some positive changes in my life, but it still wasn't enough to give me confidence to be whole heartedly honest with what is happening inside my head and heart. okay...This is sounding really scattered..probably because i'm emotional, confused and some what depressed right this moment.Anyway, moving on....I just want to update you of what happened in the past year and a few months that had passed.I don't exactly remember when i created this blog but i was planning to record and put all my new, good and bad experiences in the course of my stay in the US of A in here but for some reason i wasn't able to. Well, I got to meet very interesting people - smart, dumb, lazy, beautiful, handsome, rich, poor, male, female, normal, weird and a lot more adjectives to describe the wide variety of human beings i got to face to face with....they were all interesting and created stories that i was able to tell my friends, loved ones and new friends when i came back to the Philippines. I had three jobs in Minneapolis. I worked as an assistant to the director of a charter middle school which my Stepdad created and manages together with my mom and some brilliant teachers. If you caught it,,yes, this makes my stepdad my boss. Whew..it was tough and fun at the same time. He is such a character. I'll have to make another post just for talking about him. I also did volunteer work for a non-profit organization that my uncle started, he's pretty popular with this kind of programs in the city. He has a good heart and a good man indeed. He is a former priest and is now married and in love with my gradfather's sister..technically, he's my grand uncle but i like calling him Tito (Uncle) Joe. Before i forget, he also has a GREEN sense of humor..oops..what i meant was..he also has a GREAT sense of humor. ;-) My last job was a cashier or in a more professional twang, a customer service representative in a convenience store/gas station. Even though i don't plan to put this in my resume when i apply a job in the states, it still counts as a job i had. This was really my FIRST ever real J.O.B. My brother and i walked in the establishment a couple blocks away from our house, talked to the manager named TOM, impressed him, passed our resume and got a call after a few days. Of course, i had to put my stepdad and uncle as my references in the resume(hahaha..:-) Smart or what??) We had to go the main office more than once, which is far and in another city, we tried riding the bus one time but it got us nowhere and almost didn't make it to the interview, thank God for cabs! so we ended up taking cabs in our succeeding meetings in the main branch. I only lasted a few weeks of training, then my stepdad, mom and i decided that it was better for me to just resign, it was for safety reasons. I had a 2pm-10pm shift, I walk home but for most of the time, they picked me up with the car because of unruly weather situations-snowstorms for one(hahaha..lucky me)i had to wipe the counters, fill the donut shelf, mop and sweep the floors, greet customers, man the counter, announce to the customers that the gasoline pumps are prepaid so if they're paying in cash they have to come in to the cashier- the script was something like this "All pumps are prepaid, you can use your credit card or come to the cashier..". It was fun, i made friends with the people i worked with. There was this one shift i was paired with a 19 year old girl, i was also 19 at that time and she was pregnant. I didn't know at first, so we started talking and then she asked me if i had kids???? and i was like..uhhmmm..no!! she followed with another question and i quote " Are you married?" of course i said no again.. I was silent for a while, probably out of confusion and shock. In the Philippines, being a less liberated country that we are, pregnancy and marriage are not popular topics among young adults at the tender age of nineteen..we are practically still kids living under our strict parents' roof. I learned and picked this up early on in my stay in Minneapolis, when someone asks you a question, you have to ask them the same question, after you answer out of courtesy even if you're really no interested. in their answer(hahaha..:-) no offenese) so, i asked my shift partner if she was married and have kids..that's when i found out. We had an interesting conversation after the revelation..Before i forget,,this is when my mom, stepdad and i aggreed that in return for the full time work i'm doing for the school, they will give me a car when i return to the Philippines..one year and 6 months later to be exact..tadah..still no car! :-) That's okay, really don't think about it that much anymore compared to the first few months we arrived. There's so much more that happened, more people to talk about, more places i've seen, 'lessons learned but i think i will have to reserve it for another post. It's 1:33am and i better start hitting the sack! Till my next post..

Welcome
